Library Mission & History

The mission and history of Mexico-Audrain County Library District.

The mission of the Mexico-Audrain County Library District is to provide quality Library resources and services which fulfill the educational, recreational, informational and cultural needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful and professional.

The library system holds approximately 100,000 materials, including books, audiobooks, movies, eBooks and eAudiobooks.

The Library was created in the early 1900s by local citizens seeing the need for a free community library. The library has been located in three different locations and has been at the current location for 50 years.
